My Experience Interning at Dell

This summer I gained my first experience working in the corporate world after many years in public education. My summer internship with Dell was in the commercial marketing division for North America, and I was able to use my prior work experience and bring knowledge to the table.

My project was to create a new marketing tool that integrated education and corporate social responsibility. I loved learning about corporate social responsibility and how companies strive to give back not only to the communities that they’re in but globally.

Besides working for 12 weeks, I was able to volunteer for a food packaging event to send meals to Guatemala and mentor young girls thinking about going into STEM-related fields. I won a case competition. I had my face printed on a cookie. I also ate really, really well all summer in Austin, and I was able to take in a few minor league baseball games with fellow Aggie MBA interns. I even tried a pedal party in the stifling heat of August, which I don’t recommend – they’re so much harder than they look!
