As a Business Strategy Specialist, you will seek and create sustainable and durable competitive advantage in a broad range of industry segments for the company. A Business Strategy Specialist helps shape, articulate, drive, and assess the long-term strategic direction for the company across its entire portfolio of products. You will leverage thought leadership to identify and advocate for the future state of the industry and the potential impact on Microsoft’s overall strategy.

Responsibilities
- You’ll conduct market-based research by identifying and gathering information (e.g., financial statements, reports, analyses, stakeholder feedback, expert calls); interpret information with guidance from senior colleagues as needed, including researching existing business and identifying new spaces for Microsoft; conduct analyses (e.g., financial modeling) to validate proposed ideas and inform business decisions. You’ll assist in refining initial framing established by project lead for strategic questions and apply structure to analysis.
- You’ll communicate and advocate insights to business leaders (e.g., Senior Managers, Directors) and convey viewpoints through written documents (e.g., memos, reports) and influence models (e.g., meetings, presentations) through multiple iterations of feedback and vet, create and execute outlines. You’ll deliver project findings, recommendations, and implications to business partners to facilitate senior discussions and decision making.
- You’ll establish and maintain key points of contact with internal teams (e.g., Finance, Marketing, Engineering). You’ll build working relationships with less experienced project stakeholders and business partners. You’ll share knowledge with business leaders (e.g., Senior Managers, Directors) on a particular area of expertise, leveraging and broadening deep technical/product knowledge and market awareness for a domain to inform strategic business decisions.
- You’ll develop an understanding of Microsoft’s product portfolio, strategic priorities, competitive position, gaps, and potential opportunities; investigate and provide an analysis of the merger and acquisition (M&A), venture funding and public market environment and trends; support and review product roadmap, go-to-market, integration plans, and related issues.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or have completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree
- 1+ year(s), marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years marketing, strategy, business planning, consulting, banking, finance, economics, and/or partner organization experience
Business Strategy IC3 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $80,900 – $162,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $105,300 – $176,900 per year.
