The Manager, Pricing Strategy will provide strategic guidance, subject matter expertise, project management, and analytical support for pricing recommendations and decisions made by the merchandising organization. This position is responsible for being a thought leader in pricing and should be seen by merchants as a strategic partner in this area. The Manager will advise merchants on available pricing levers to drive category performance and designing and execute strategic priorities. The Manager will support corporate level pricing initiatives throughout the organization. The Manager should be an advocate for implementing pricing best practices across the portfolio of categories and provide guidance and support to Senior Analysts and Contractors as part of the team.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
60%-Develop relationships with Merchants and deep understandings of business dynamics.
Work in collaboration with Merchants to determine their goals and objectives, conduct standard and ad hoc analysis to identify key drivers of performance, recommend pricing decisions that will improve their performance and develop financial plans that reflect pricing changes.
Typical analysis will include: (a) marketplace and macroeconomic trends impacting the business including competitive assessment, (b) customer segmentation and responsiveness (c) transaction and basket analysis and insights, (d) localization of pricing, (e) promotional effectiveness, (f) consumer psychology.
Develop executive-level presentations that summarize analysis including pricing performance across the organization, strategic rationale underpinning pricing decisions and expected financial impact.
Report out to all levels of management including senior leadership of the department. Accountable for accuracy, thoroughness, thought process, timeliness and viability of recommendations.
20%-Partner with cross-functional teams throughout the department and company, to include assortment planning, supply chain, merchandising, finance, loyalty, and IT to operationalize strategy
20%-Work on strategic projects for the Merchandising Solutions organization focused on bigger bets in pricing strategy with longer-term importance to the business

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 4 years
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about.
On rare occasions, there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
MBA or other relevant advanced degree
Prior experience in Pricing or Management Consulting
Strong analytical skills including demonstrated aptitude with financial analysis and ability to generate insight from large and complex data sets
Strong communication skills including the ability to effectively articulate viewpoint to executive leadership and ability to write compelling executive level presentations
Strong project management skills and ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
Strong financial acumen including experience with the retail and cost methods of accounting
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Tableau
